Week One: Arguments For God’s Existence
(January 2-January 6)

GETTING STARTED

• If you haven’t read the “Getting Started” page – do that now.

DAY ONE

• Make sure you did everything from the Getting Started Page.
  (really important steps include; setting up gmail account, using gmail account to sign-in to this course blog, doing an auto-biographical post, and filling out student info form.)
• Read: Course Work
  (this outlines the three main kinds of writing assignments. You should familiarize yourself with all three)
• Read: What is an Argument?; Some Vocabulary Describing Arguments and Analyzing Concepts
• Take: Diagnostic Quiz

DAY TWO

• Read: The Design Argument (by Allen Stairs and Chris Bernard)
  (Submit 2 page summary Using Google Documents)

DAY THREE

• Read: The Cosmological Argument
  (Submit 2 page summary Using Google Documents)
• Begin Daily 50
• NOTES ABOUT DAILY 50
  • This week you only need 3 days of a Daily 50. Every other week you need write at least 50 words on 5 separate days (250 words total)
  • Any post about yesterday or today’s readings counts.
  • Any comment on a discussion thread from yesterday or today counts.
  • Each day that I expect 50 words from you on the blog, I’ll post “Daily 50 due today”. These are due by 11:59 PM – with a three hour grace period.

DAY FOUR

• Read: The Ontological Argument (by Alvin Plantinga)
  (Submit 2 page summary Using Google Documents)
• Daily 50 due today (A post about yesterday or today’s readings counts. A comment on a post from yesterday or today counts.)

DAY FIVE

• Read: Religious Experience Justifies Belief in God (by William Alston)
  
• Read: Do Mystics See God? (By Evan Fales)
• TWO SUMMARIES DUE
  (Submit 2 page summary Using Google Documents one 2-page summary for each reading)
• Daily 50 due today (post about yesterday or today’s readings; comment on post from yesterday or today)

DAY SIX:

• Rest
• Work on paper. If you’ve decided to write one of your two papers about this week’s topics it’s due by tomorrow at noon – Guidelines Here.
• Daily 50 Makeup – (If you did not complete all Daily 50s, then you may make one up today, and one tomorrow. If you’ve completed all of your daily 50s, you may shoot for that above and beyond the call of duty bonus I mention here.)

DAY SEVEN: PAPER DUE NOON TODAY

• REMEMBER: You must write a short 4-6 page paper on some argument from the readings from that week – see here for more details concerning this paper assignment. If you chose to write one of your papers this week – it’s due today at noon.

• Read: Epistemic Humility, Arguments from Evil, and Moral Skepticism (by Daniel Howard-Snyder)

DAY FIVE

• Read: REST – Prepare for Final Exam
